Bio

Dr. Brandon Stein was raised in Castroville, Texas, graduating as the Salutatorian from Medina Valley High School in 2009. While growing up, he was active in sports, including football and baseball, as well as helping on the family’s pecan orchard.

He attended Texas A&M University, graduating Summa Cum Laude in 2013 with a B.S. in Biomedical Sciences. He went on to complete his Doctor of Medicine degree with Honors from the Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine (now Texas A&M College of Medicine) in 2017. He was elected to the prestigious AOA Medical Honor Society his junior year. Following medical school, he completed an orthopedic surgery residency at UTMB in Galveston, graduating in 2022. During residency, he received numerous awards, including the “Open Growth Plate Award” for resident excellence on the pediatric surgery rotation, the “Golden Bone Award” for residents as teachers based on feedback from medical students, and the “Curly Toe Award” for resident excellence on the foot and ankle rotation. Following residency, he furthered his training in hand surgery at the David P. Green Hand Surgery Fellowship at the Hand Center of San Antonio, graduating in 2023.

Dr. Stein’s clinical interests include surgery of the hand and wrist. These include carpal tunnel and endoscopic carpal tunnel release, distal radius fractures, arthritis including thumb (CMC or basal joint), finger, and wrist arthritis, trigger fingers, DeQuervain’s (first dorsal compartment) tendinitis, cubital tunnel, and fractures, among numerous other conditions.

Dr. Stein chose hand surgery as our hands are vital to everything that we do. His interest grew during residency after working with one of his mentors. There are many problems in the hands and wrists that can improve with simple interventions, some that are even able to be performed in the clinic setting.

Dr. Stein enjoys spending time on his property in Rio Medina, Texas, and taking care of the things around the farm and ranch. He continues to help on the pecan orchard, including moving pipe and harvesting pecans in the fall. He also enjoys hunting in the fall and making sausage with his family, as well as fishing in Port Aransas.
