Improved Lab Technology at MRH

Medina Regional Hospital Laboratory is pleased to announce the arrival of a new coagulation instrument, the ACL Top 350. This analyzer evaluates the clotting ability of blood by assessing various coagulation factors. It aids healthcare professionals in diagnosing bleeding disorders and monitoring patients on anticoagulant medications by measuring the time it takes for blood to clot.
The device employs optical, mechanical, and impedance-based methods to detect clot formation and provides results for key parameters such as Prothrombin Time (PT) and Activated Partial Thromboplastin Time (APTT). With a rapid turnaround time, results are available in just three minutes, enabling doctors to provide efficient care, ultimately improving patient outcomes when time is of the essence.
Additionally, we are excited to introduce our microbiology analyzer, the Microscan Walkaway. This innovative tool utilizes fluorescent panels to accurately identify bacteria and assess their susceptibility to antibiotics. It is designed to detect emerging and critical antimicrobial resistance across a broad range of bacteria. This allows providers to ensure the most effective antibiotic is prescribed for treatment.
With its intelligent automation features and advanced software, the Microscan Walkaway is another addition to the state-of-the-art laboratory at Medina Regional Hospital. Medina Healthcare System is committed to providing the community exceptional care through technological advancements and services that align with our mission of quality care close to home.
